The lower road on the left leads towards the spring and the higher road on the right leads towards the gate, although they join at the top of the hill. One year I was riding my bike up the hill and through some combination of unlikely events, I "fell" off my bike and got my foot caught on the sprocket, which tore a large chunk of skin out. I then had to walk down the gravel road to Grandma's cabin to get it bandaged up. I still have the scar as it was quite a deep cut.
