JABRONI! George

I really hate computers. Diana, your computer at work SUCKS!

Today marks the 100 day count-down till Pine Lake opens... I was looking through my lake pictures and I'm really looking forward to the summertime again when I can break out the toys for another season and see all my friends at the lake again...

"No News is Good News"

That sounds like a very pessimistic statement, doesn't it? It almost says there's no such thing as good news. It's been an interesting past couple of days. I had a full weekend, spent some time with Jason which was great, hardly get to see him anymore. Last night I dropped off a warranty video card for Bo and hung out with him for a while. He showed me his bear maceing video (Him and Mike wanted to try spraying themselves with bear mace... so of course they got it all on video. It is kind of funny but I bet it must have really hurt. He's also got that infamous video clip of me 'dancing', doing the same dance that dropped Bo to the ground laughing at the Fox and sent Jessica running back to our table... He actually has it on his desktop and watches it whenever he needs a good laugh. (And people wonder why I don't dance!) It is pretty funny I guess. Anyway, my clothes should be dry by now so I should get going to work. I've actually got a fair bit of pictures to put up, some from Kaitlyn's birthday party, even from Christmas! I guess working on these other web sites so much has really caused my own to get put on the far far back burner but one of these days I'll get around to it. Have a good day!

Here and now will we ever be again? Cause I have found all that shimmers in this world is sure to fade away... again...

I got a letter from Becky today, and even though I'd already had a pretty good day, that made everything else fade in comparison. Even though we email each other every couple of days, I'm going to keep writing pen and paper letters too. It's something of a lost art these days, it just isn't done anymore. Today has been quite a day of reflection as well. I've really been getting lake-sick, and now that the weather has been warming up I've really been longing. Speaking of which, I got my bike insurance renewal papers today too, just another sign that spring is almost here... I've got a really good insurance program for the bike, they only take out my premiums during the summer months so even though the bike is insured all year round, I only pay for its' insurance during the summer. My rates even went down this year which was also awesome. It's actually been a pretty awesome day all 'round. I still haven't got all those pictures I've been promising up though... One of these days.

Coming soon...

93 more days...

Chandra

Yesterday (Sunday) was quite a day for me. Many, many years ago, actually it was just after I started working at Sylvania I met this girl named Chandra who worked at the 7-Eleven in Montgomery. We had hung out a bit with each other, this picture was taken at that time at the top of Sulphur Mountain which we had just climbed. After Christmas though, we sort of lost touch and I didn't talk to her again for quite a long time. But several years later I was working in that same 7-Eleven and really started to wonder what had happened to her. I even asked one of the sales associates if she still worked there, but the lady informed me that Chandra hadn't worked at that store for over a year. I really didn't think I'd ever hear from her again but I had always wondered what had happened to her. My curiosity simmered for some time, but one night when I was over at Bo's house he told me he had something to show me. He'd found an old roll of film, went and had it developed, and wanted to show me the pictures on it. Here if it didn't have pictures from that trip to Sulphur Mountain, including a picture of Chandra. Now I was really curious. I had to know what happened to her. But how could I possibly get a hold of her? Once when she was over at my house she told me her email address and for some reason I still remembered what it was. Taking a long shot I decided to write an email to her old address and see what happened. When it didn't come back, I was amazed, and when a few days later I got a reply back I was astounded. That was about a year ago and we've stayed in pretty touch pretty regurlarly since then, and on Sunday she invited me over for coffee. It was the first time I'd seen her in about four years, but she hadn't changed a bit. She still looked exactly the same way I remembered her, and we reminisced just like old friends. We talked about the time we met, the 7-Eleven she had worked at, our bike rides (haha, all two of them...) the trip to Sulphur Mountain... I was actually quite amazed at how much she remembered. We watched a few episodes of Trailer Park Boys and then went for supper at the McDonalds on 7th and 8th. We were going to go toboggoning but her boyfriend Brent had invited a friend over that evening so they stayed at home and entertained instead but it worked out just as well because I couldn't find the hill my friends were sledding down anyways and wound up going over to Bo's instead. But it was really good to see Chandra again and I hope that it's not another four years before we get together again.

Thanks Bo!

I had a pretty late night working on Friday, but when I got home I found Bo had left me a present on my chair in my room. I guess a long time ago he had ordered the Fawlty Towers series on DVD for me but had never gone and picked it up. So the other day he went and picked it up and dropped it off for me! What a good friend, thanks Bo. And if anyone has ever seen any of these episodes, every one of them is fall-on-the-floor laugh-till-it-hurts funny. They actually only did 13 episodes but every single one of them is great. Here I started watching them on the weekend and I was sitting in my room, by myself, laughing my head off! I highly recommend them. And even though it's got John Cleese (and Connie Booth) who are typically associated with Monty Python, this show is not at all "Monty Python" style. The messes they get themselves into are absolutely hilarious. You almost smack your head and moan when you see some of the things that happen. Long and the short of it, you gotta watch at least one of the episodes. I promise you will laugh.

I had planned on getting a lot of work done over the weekend on the big company web site. There are four trucks driving around Alberta with huge ads for this web site plastered on their sides already and it's not even done yet! No pressure, of course... But it's very close. I can't remember what came up on Saturday, but I didn't end up working on it then, and Sunday morning at 9:00 Chandra phoned me and wanted to go for coffee so I threw on some clothes and ran over to go pick her up. We ended up spending half the day together and even though it wasn't really under the greatest of circumstances, I had a really good time. She wants to come camping this summer and I hope she does. This summer is really starting to shape up to be quite a good one, there's some talk of another houseboat trip, I've heard England mentioned, and of course there is also Pine Lake and Sheerness... Yesterday I went outside, took a shovel, and started breaking up the 6 inches of ice in the back alley that is keeping Jason's and my bikes in the garage. Another few days like Saturday or Sunday and I have a feeling I just might be able to get back on two weels again. And I know I'm not the only one who's anxious to go for a ride... (Hello Kristin!) hehehehe But I believe I will wait till a bit more ice has melted and some of the gravel has been swept up before I start taking passengers.

Sadly, I know we will probably still get one more good dump of snow and a few more weeks of cold weather. This happens every year. Around February we get this nice break from winter and it seems like spring might be starting early and then *WHUMP* - Two feet of snow fall and we're locked into another month of winter. The false hope is brutal, especially for those of us who thoroughly enjoy the summer. But still, it is nice to go and sit outside in the sun even now, and I plan on utilizing this great weather we've been having as much as possible.

John and his Kabobs

Happy Birthday Dad & Blair!

This weekend we celebrated both my dad's and my brother's birthdays (since they ARE only one day apart.) Blair, Colin and I went to West Ed for the weekend and had a blast up there. They've got some awesome "new" waterslides. I'll have to write all about it sometime. (The toilet! hahahaha) But of course, we could not drive through Red Deer without getting Chicken Kabobs from 7-Eleven... Seriously, if you've never had them, you MUST! They are phenominal. Anyhow, gotta go! Write more later.
