Sulphur Mountain Crew

Here's an old picture. This must have been at least three years ago.

Left to right, back row: Dave Huntrods, Bo Hill, Tony Lottes, Jamie (Can't Remember), (Two tourists from England)
Front row: John Finlay (me), Chandra, and sort of behind her Jolene Remple. I went and saw Phone Booth this evening with Bo and Peter, and he ended up showing me some pictures he'de just got developed. Apparantly he'd had this roll in his camera since that time, but just never had it developed until now. This particular picture was taken atop Sulphur Mountain, where we'de just hiked up to the top and were enjoying the view before taking the Gondola down the mountain. We met these two tourists from England I think (though I could be wrong) and someone took a picture for us. That was the trip where Bo's catalytic converter fell off his car right around COP and we drove to Banff and back with a deafening roar... It was quite funny. All 7 of us packed into his old Brain-Mobile... Good times. Hard to believe that was over three years ago though... Time sure flies.

Happy Long Weekend!

My Seadoo

I pulled my Seadoo out to start getting it ready for this summer the other day... I guess it would have been Wednesday evening. Put the battery back in it, checked the oil and gas, and started it up. It had no problem, just went * like that! * So now it's in getting some maintenance done on it, it needed a new pump housing because apparantly mine has some damage from sucking in rocks which is why it seemed to have lost some power towards the end of this last summer... It is also getting it's engine looked at, to check everything out and make sure it's all in tip-top shape for this summer. I have a feeling it's going to be moving around a bit more this year, as the rest of the band at Grace have a cabin at Sylvan lake where I'll no doubt be camping this summer for part of it, but I do plan on camping at Pine Lake again as well, meaning it's going to travel a bit more whereas last summer it just stayed at Pine Lake from May till September. I checked the computer on it and it's sitting at 120.9 hours so far. That's the three season total. As I recall it had some 64 or so hours the first season, 90 something at the end of 2001, and now we're at 120.9 at the end of 2002. I am pretty excited, this should be a fun season.

April 19, 2003

It's Saturday morning, and the high today is supposed to be a beautiful 17 degrees! Jason and I are planning on going for a ride today, I hope to make it out to Redwood Meadows to go see Becky and her dad. Pat from work has said that he may want to go for a bike ride today as well. I've already had mine out several times this year, including one trip to work not so long ago...

Me and my bike at work

I have been looking on the net for information and pricing on aftermarket impellers for my Seadoo. Since they are replacing the pump housing already, it makes sense to install a new impeller at the same time since it's all apart anyways, and from what I've been reading this upgrade could make a significant performance boost. I can already hear some of you saying now, "You want to make it go FASTER!?!?!? Are you crazy?!?!" Well, in short, yes. I want to see what it can really do. I was thinking of going all out and buying a new aftermarket pump for it and everything, but that might be a little excessive, and I think they've already ordered a stock pump for it anyways. We'll try this for now and see what she does. In any event, it should be an interesting summer! I can't wait to try it out, and it's not nearly close to being ready yet!!! I think there are presently 27 days until the May Long Weekend, which will most likely be my first weekend out at Pine Lake this year. I've actually got to go there this next week and see if I can get pricing information from each of the various campgrounds for one of my other web sites, www.pinelake.ca. I would like to have up-to-date pricing information from each of the public campgrounds at the lake available on my web site, as well as news and events up as well. What I'm thinking now too, is to put up a forum for people who want to talk Pine Lake on. I'll use the same forum script that we are using on cubeinc.net at www.cubeinc.net/forum only modify it for the pinelake.ca web site. I have so many plans for this summer, I honestly have no idea when I'll get everything done! But it's on it's way, whether I'm ready for it or not... And I am excited!

If every emotion were a color and each day were a canvas, my painting today would not be lacking any hue, pigment, tint, or shade.

My Van under a foot of snow

Can you believe it? Saturday, April 26th (2003) we had over a foot of snow. I'de just spend the previous week riding my bike around Red Deer, vising the lake and observing the thawing of it's infamous green waters. We had almost a week of upper teen weather and then this!?!?! I suppose I really shouldn't complain, this is Calgary after all, and these sorts of drastic weather changes are more common than they are rare... Still it's pretty brutal to go from short and a T-Shirt to winter jacket and muk-luks within 48 hours... I would rather get it all out now though, instead of having snow in August again like last year... Boy that was something! We sure get some strange weather in this neck of the world... My Seadoo is just about ready for this season and I'm pumped about that, I can't wait to get out on the water again and out of this basement!
