Journal Entries for June 2002
June 27th, 2002

What a beautiful day. I'm presently eating lunch at the Safeway where I am working today. Today's high is supposed to get to 32 degrees Celcius, and it is HOT out! Tonight I have to clean out my van and get it ready for the weekend, I'll be picking up Carmen and Leah from Red Deer and bringing them out to the lake, but apparantly Leah has some phobia of sleeping in a tent so they've asked if they can sleep in my van. I'm going to fix it all up for them, turning both speakers into beds. It looks like it will be a great weekend, but there is a drawback... because of the warm weather and lack of rain, there is a fire ban in effect for Pine Lake. And, with no moisture in the forseeable future, this ban could be in effect for some time. Good thing I burnt all my firewood last weekend, or it might have been sitting there for a while. Another dark cloud on the horizon (forgive the awful pun) -- In a week and a half I'm supposed to take two weeks off work to go stay at Pine Lake. My extended family will mostly be out there for the first week, and then the entire extended family will be out there for the second week. Normally I'de be ecstatic about being up there for two weeks, but recently I checked my bank account, and honestly I do not think I can afford to take two weeks off work without pay. I would love to take the two weeks off, but that's a lot of money I'de be missing and my rainy day fund is not exactly huge at the moment. So we shall see what happens in the next week or two. If anyone needs a computer, I would be happy to sell you one... I'm thinking of selling some stuff I don't use because I really need money! I have bought just about everything I need for this summer already, but gas is constantly a burdon. Its still a week and a half away, so maybe things will change before then. I'll be sure to keep you updated in the mean time, as well I plan to have more pictures from this long weekend.

Foot Flower

Summer is finally here, and its off to a great start! This past weekend was the 5th weekend I've spent at the lake this year, and it just keeps on getting better and better. The new photo album is moving along quickly now as most of the programming is done, I just have to import all the pictures from the old one and sort everything out. (But that's always fun). A few people have previewed the new system and so far seem to like it, and that's always encouraging. After all the work going into this project, I would like to think that it is an improvement. The long weekend is fast approaching, it sounds like it will be a blast, and the week after that I hope to spend two whole weeks at the lake! I'll keep you updated on how that's going. In the mean time, the pictures keep adding up and will be available shortly, as well as some video clips, (......anda-ONE!) which I hope to incorporated into the new photo album somehow. (Like I said it is not finished yet.) But anyhow, I have to get ready for and go to work, so I will leave you there and let you explore the site!

Oh, and I finally got all the red off my head...

Can it be? Could summer ACTUALLY be here? It does look like it, doesn't it... I know its been a long time since this page has seen any sort of a change, but believe it or not I have been working behind the scenes, developing two new picture sections for this site. The major project in the works is a complete revamping of the photo album. The new format will make it easier to find specific pictures, as well users who are on dial-up connections will be able to limit the number of pictures viewed per page at a time. I know some of the albums in the present system are quite large and on slower connections I've seen the images actually time out before it had a chance to load them all. Problem solved with Photo Engine. All the latest pictures from the lake and other recent events are in the new format, so once the new engine is finished you can view all the new pictures. This is why there haven't been any additions to the old photo album in some time. The second new section to be coming a bit later than the new photo album is what I call, "Who's Who?" This is basically going to be a photo-directory of all my friends, acquantances, relatives, co-workers, and so on. Keep reading about a person in the journal and you have no idea who they are? Look in the Who's Who and you'll get the full story on anyone you care to look up. It should be interesting... In the mean time, I hope to have at least another journal entry written up in the next day or two so check back soon and I'll be sure to notify everyone when the new photo album is operational.

June already? Or rather, about time! I can't believe the summer is finally here, although the weather could still be a little warmer... I'll be putting up pictures in the photo album from this weekend, now that I have my new digital camera... Wow does it ever take nice pictures! (As you will see) I'll have to write all about the events of this weekend, although it seemed like a lot more politics than actual activities... Anyhow, I just got home and its almost 1:00 in the morning so I will be going to bed, but I just had to get June on the list...
